...Koh Samui is part of Thailand's largest and most important Southern province, Suratthani. Suratthani literally means "City of the good people" and is the former seat of the Sivichaya Empire. It is located 644 kilometers from Bangkok. Samui Island is one of 18 Amphoes (administrative divisions), and is the province's major tourist attraction.
...Koh Samui, is the third largest island among Gulf of Siam. It is almost literally an island of coconuts and forests hills on Chalk Mountains, culminating at 636 meters.
